6 Days To Go!

In 6 days, Jameson and Hector will meet for the very first time. As Jameson’s mother I am extremely excited for the moment that the two of them come face to face, for all of us to meet!  I can’t wait to give this incredible guy a great big hug. I am pretty sure that everyone in attendance is going to remember this for a very long time. A beautiful moment of pure raw emotion. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I saw one of Hector’s recent interviews where he told the reporter that this moment, when he meets us, is what has kept him going. And as he finished saying that, he nearly lost it and I saw a few tears. Brought tears to my eyes, that was for sure.

It’s not over yet, but I have to say that this has been quite the journey for Hector. It has been a very trying mission, probably more so than anyone anticipated. Sometimes I get the feeling that Hector’s daily updates have been a bit “sugar-coated”.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the daily updates, especially the Dear Jameson part! But I do know that he leaves stuff out like how his arm stump was pretty much being torn to shreds from the old bike, his shoes are falling apart, he only wears one sock so that he has a free foot to change bike tires, IV’s in your foot are painful, his stolen iPad was a Father’s Day gift, and much more. He has suffered, and it makes me sad and feel bad, but it was not like we could tell the guy “no way”. I am pretty sure he would not take no for an answer.

Even though this has been a huge challenge, Hector is having an adventure of a life-time! Meeting many wonderful people, visiting places he has never been before (he’s never seen wheat fields), living off of McDonald’s, Dominos Pizza, and Coca Cola, and most importantly he is inspiring so many people around the US, especially Jameson, that ANYTHING is possible even without hands.

Currently, Hector is in Idaho Falls, ID! Whoo hoo….. only one state from Washington! He’s almost here! If you want to help Hector finish his ride you can donate at: http://www.dontstopliving.org/index.html

And ANYONE can come join us in welcoming Hector July 13th here in Spokane, 10120 N Whittier St @1pm!!!

Hands For Baby Jameson Cycle USA

Hi everyone! I want to let you all know about this amazing man who has come into our lives to help Jameson. His name is Hector Picard. Hector had learned of our story and decided out of the kindness of his heart to put together an incredible fund-raiser called Hands for Baby Jameson Cycle USA (More details below and go here to find out how you can help http://www.dontstopliving.org/index.html ). Here is what Hector wrote and the list of every one of his stops. Check it out, it is positively amazing:POSTER-Hands for Baby Jameson

“Hi my name is Hector Picard and I am a double arm amputee tri-athlete, cyclist and motivational speaker. In 1992 I was involved in an electrical accident while working in South Florida and as a result I had my entire right arm amputated and half my left as well 2nd and 3rd degree burns over large portion of my body. I haven’t allowed these physical obstacles stop me from reaching my goals.
On April 12th, 2012 Baby Jameson Davis was born to Jimmy and Brooke Davis of Spokane, Washington. Jameson was born with no hands or forearms but a wonderful smile and a zest for life. Due to the high cost of prosthetics, the Davis’ are struggling to provide Jameson with the latest technology to afford him the same opportunities every able-bodies child deserves. In an effort to raise funds for Baby Jameson’s myoelectric prosthetics, I will ride my bicycle from Miami, FL. To Spokane, WA. This fundraising event will begin on June 8th, 2013 and end on July 13, 2013. It will cover 3200 miles in 36 days (average 90 miles a day).
Join me in helping raise money for Jameson’s future medical needs. If we work together, Jameson will have the same opportunity to reach for his goals. As always, thank you for your support and all your positive thoughts!”
